About
Friends of the Fenway Garden Society.
Friends of the
Fenway Garden Society was organized to encourage the
whole community to get involved with helping to preserve
the park and continue the tradition of the historic
Victory Gardens.
The Fenway Garden Society is a non-profit organization
that oversees the Victory Gardens within the Back Bay
Fens, a 7-acre Boston city park that is part of the
historic Emerald Necklace.
The Garden Society
not only oversees the garden plots and gardeners with an
all volunteer staff, but maintains the irrigation
system, manages an urban forestry program, manages the
compost, keeps up much of the park's infrastructure
including fencing and pathways, and participates in
community building like working with the Green Team,
Simmons College, and partnerships with Fenway High
School's SLUG program - just to name a few.
Member dues are not
enough to meet our long-term goals and we welcome
anyone, including current and past gardeners to join
Friends of the Garden Society.
Friends of the Garden Society allows anyone to show
their support, and keep in touch with the progress being
made to manage and preserve one of the last remaining
Victory Gardens in the country.
